Maine Timber Works - Who we are
Company Profile
Maine Timber Works has a long tradition in the lumbering business dating back to the 1800's when the current owner's great grandfather
first placed a circular sawmill on the property. Maine has always had a deep tradition in the lumbering and logging business easily dating
back to the 1600's.
The King of England would have selected white pine and had them marked with the broad arrow, which symbolized that the trees belonged
to the king, hence the name King Pine. Much of these trees were designed to be ship masts for the king's fleet. In actuality, many of
these specially marked pine trees ended up being used locally by independent Maine lumberman in spite to the king.
Maine Timber Works is located in Rome, Maine, and it's a known fact that lumber products produced in this state have long been desired
for quality.
Manufacturing Philosophy
Maine Timber Works builds its floors one at a time for each individual customer. We manufacture each floor at the time of the order to
ensure that the customer receives the look that they wanted. This approach is timely, but well worth the wait. It ensures a custom finished
product that has a uniform fit, color, and moisture content.
Manufacturing Process
Our logs are selectively chosen to match the client's needs as the order is placed. In addition, we purchase our logs from local loggers
who practice sustainable forestry and assure productive and healthy forests for future generations.
